Composition of the SSAT
Depending on the level of the test, the composition and requirements of the test vary, but all include four sections: vocabulary, math, reading, and writing:
Vocabulary: examines students' mastery and recognition of vocabulary, including synonyms and analogies;
Math: examines students' problem-solving skills, covering basic concepts in computation, basic algebra, geometry, and mathematics;
Reading: examines students' ability to comprehend the texts they read;
Writing: different forms of writing and abilities are assessed depending on the level of the test. Writing is not included in the overall score, but essays are submitted to the schools to which the student applies as a reference for admission;
The exam also includes 16 test questions, which are not scored but are equally important in examining the student's ability to learn.
